How to Disinfect Your Home

5/20/2020 (Permalink)

Someone cleaning the sink Disinfecting your home is essential to kill bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms that may be harmful to humans.

Disinfecting your home is essential to kill bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms that may be harmful to humans. We come in contact with many germ carriers in the home-like knobs, tables, remotes, utensils, toilets, and more. However, to stay safe and secure, you must use disinfectants when cleaning the house. The most active disinfectants are bleach, rubbing alcohol, and hot water.

The Best Disinfectants

The Center for Disease Control recommends using a bleach solution diluted with water or a 70% alcohol solution for high-contact surfaces.

To make your bleach disinfectant, use five tablespoons (1/3 cup) bleach per gallon of water, or four teaspoons of bleach per quart of water.

The bleach solution is practical in nonporous surfaces like the bathroom and mopping with a bleach solution is recommended.

Tip: By all means, avoid mixing bleach with anything other than water. Bleach is a powerful chemical that could set off a dangerous chemical reaction when combined with other substances. Do not mix bleach with alcohol.

You could use regular alcohol (isopropyl alcohol or ethyl alcohol) of at least 70% alcohol if you don't have bleach at home. Rubbing alcohol should be diluted.

Different disinfectants perform different purposes. Some disinfectants are more effective than the other, depending on the composition.

  • Disinfectants should be left on a surface for about 10 minutes before wiping off. Surfaces that need to be disinfected are tables, remotes, railings, doorknobs, light switches, toilets, sinks, and faucets daily or often as the case may be.
  • Bleach should not be used on hardwood and other porous floors because of stain. Bleach is very powerful and may change the color of porous surfaces.
  • You can disinfect counter tops first by using soap and water, then use the bleach solution or rubbing alcohol to kill the virus, bacteria, or microorganism.
  • When doing the laundry, soak clothes in hot water for 30 to 45 minutes before washing and dry clothes with high heat to kill microbes.

Wipe your laundry hamper down like you would other surfaces to avoid microbes that could have migrated from clothes to remain.

Practice self-care when using disinfectants by wearing rubber gloves to protect your hands. Alcohol and bleach can be very aggressive on the skin.

Here are some basic steps to take if your house is flooded:

  • Remember, safety first! Ensure everyone in the home is safe and outside of the flood area as soon as possible. It is best to find a safe dry spot far from the house before you begin to think of anything else. If the flood is naturally caused, call the emergency unit for immediate evacuation.
  • Once everyone is safe, try to find the source of the flooding if it is not naturally caused. Turning off the water from the source will help to stop the spread.
  • Turn off the electricity, but avoid coming in contact with the water if it has contacted any socket to avoid getting electrocuted. Better still, if you cannot reach the fuse box without stepping in water, call an electrician.
  • Take pictures and videos of affected areas for insurance documentation.

For the clean-up process,

  • Wear appropriate clothing before stepping foot or touching the water to avoid getting in contact with contaminated water or hazardous material. Wear waders or waterproof boots.
  • Remove water from the building using vacuum or a pump. Open Windows and doors to let fresh air in and circulate.
  • Salvage items that are not seriously damaged. Throw away contaminated food.
  • Dry out spaces out with fans and dehumidifiers. Disinfect anything that was touched by the water.

Wet spaces are a breeding ground for mold, it's very important to dry them to prevent mold spores from growing. Once a mold colony gets established it leaves a not easy to remove stain on your property. Water Damage Emergency Tips

4/23/2020 (Permalink)

Water Valve The majority of water damages are caused by a burst of pressurized water lines.

Water leaks can cause damage to properties. It is important to know what to do when faced with such incidents. Here are water damage emergency tips to help you avoid escalation of such an incident.

  • Turn off the electricity

Ensure you follow safety measures by turning off all electrical appliances in the house or office. To prevent electric shock, turn off the circuit breakers and unplug all devices. Take all electrical devices away from the reach of the water. Take your children and pets away from the reach of water also.

  • Stop the flow from the source

The majority of water damages are caused by a burst of pressurized water lines. The first thing to do during a burst is to close the inlet valve, immediately stopping the flow before the damage worsens.

In the case of a natural disaster like a flood that is impossible to stop, it is best to divert the water away from your property. This is not an easy task especially when the water comes from the backed-up sewer pipes.

  • Take out your possessions

Take out all valuable things, your documents, furniture, TV and other appliances, mattresses, clothes, shoes, carpets, and the rest. If you have a very limited time, make sure you take all electrical appliances and furniture out as quickly as possible.

  • Contact a water damage restoration company

Contact a water damage restoration company like SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto to help begin the drying process. Special equipment like air movers and humidifiers and pumps are used by SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto to extract the water.

Fires in the home can be devastating, leaving you with little or nothing. It is important to always think safety first while engaging in activities in the home.

Top causes of fires in the home:

  • Cooking equipment

Cooking equipment, like pots and pans, can overheat and if unattended to. Keep a close watch when cooking especially, on hotplates.

  • Heating

When using portable heaters, keep away from anything that could easily catch fire like furniture, curtains, laundry, and clothes.

  • Smoking indoors

Cigarettes can cause a fire when in contact with apparels, furniture, or flammable liquids. A cigarette that is not put out properly can cause a flame because it can remain lit for up to an hour unknowingly. It could burst into flames if it came into contact with flammable materials, such as furniture.

  • Electrical equipment

An electrical appliance, such as a toaster, can start a fire if it is faulty or has a frayed cord. An overloaded power cord can cause a fire when in use.

  • Candles

Keep candles away from surfaces or materials that can easily catch fire. Always blow out candles before leaving a room.

  • Faulty wiring

Faulty wiring can cause a fire outbreak if there is a spark or surge.

  • Grills

Grills are for outdoor use only. Grills that are used close to buildings, clothes, or trees can transfer heat easily, causing a fire outbreak.

  • Flammable liquids

All flammable liquids like petrol, kerosene, or methylated spirits should be kept away from heat sources as they can go in flames easily.

  • Lighting

Check and ensure all electrical wiring and buildings are earthed correctly to prevent the house from becoming a beacon of lightning which may lead to a fire outbreak.

Grilling Safety Tips

4/19/2020 (Permalink)

Man grilling outdoors Gas and charcoal grills are designed for outdoor use only.

Many people love to gather with their family and loved ones for a cookout experience. Grilling is something people love to do to entertain their guests at such times. According to the National Fire Protection Association, between 2013 and 2017 outdoor grilling causes an annual average of 10,200 home fires. The association further indicated that gas grills cause more home fires than charcoal grills. The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association statistics show that a majority of grill users own a gas grill (gas grill - 64%, charcoal grill - 44%, electric grill - 9%).

However, there are some safety tips people can do to avoid fire hazards when grilling.

  • Grill outside and away from any structures

Gas and charcoal grills are designed for outdoor use only. It is best to place grills farther from buildings and trees. According to NFPA reports, 27% of home fires are caused by grills in courtyards, terrace or patio while 29% are caused by grills in a balcony or open porch.

  • Make sure your grill stands firm

Set up the grill on a flat surface to avoid it from being tipped over. You may decide to use a grill pad or splatter mat underneath your grill to protect your deck or patio.

  • Dispose properly and keep your grill clean

If you're using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to cool off completely before disposing of. Clean the grill by removing grease or from the tray and the grill.

  • Check for propane leaks on your gas grill from the holes and cylinder.
  • If you are using a gas grill and the flame goes out, turn off the grill and the gas, and wait for some time before you relight it.
  • Don't try to move a lit or hot grill, and remember the grill will stay hot for at least an hour after use.
  • If you use a charcoal grill, use charcoal starter fluid only.
  • Have a fire extinguisher nearby.

The above-listed grill safety tips are there to protect you from fire hazards. Remember safety first when using a grill.

Knowing how to spot water damage is ideal when it comes to owning or renting a home. Water damage left untreated can cause costly damages and can expand into larger issues. Where there is water damage, there is moisture. Moisture causes mold and grows at rapid rates.

Outside of poor weather, there are so many other ways water can be problematic. Water damage comes from storms, moisture in the air, broken appliances, busted pipes, faulty plumbing systems, and more.

Water damage warning signs:

  • Cracks

Water travels in paths that provide the least resistance. Cracks are a significant source of travel for water for that reason. If you see cracks in your home's foundation or walls of the home and it appears to have expanded, chances are water is the source. Ensure cracks are sealed.

  • Standing Water

Water may sit in a small puddle on the floor, on counters, near plumbing sources, overhead on ceilings, or near appliances. Stay ahead of the issue. Find the source of any standing water and resolve it.

  • Unpleasant Smells

Water does not possess a notable scent itself, but mold and mildew do have a scent. If you smell a musty scent in your home, it could very well be mold.

  • Peeling Paint

If you see paint that is peeling or bubbling you may have issues with a leaky pipe.

  • Stains or Spots

If you find stains on the ceiling or along the walls then the source can be the roof or a pipe leak.

  • Uneven Surfaces

Water damage can cause floors, ceilings, countertops, walls, and other surfaces to warp.

If you notice any signs of water damage being present, give SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto a call. You can reach us at (209) 823-8877.

SERVPRO emergancy ready plan logo SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto offers ERPs

As a business owner or even in management, there are so many hats to wear when it comes to what needs to be done day to day. Workplace disastrous events are usually the last thing on one’s mind, as it is not part of the regular day-to-day operations at the workplace. Regardless of the likelihood of a disaster taking place at the worksite, it is imperative to have a plan should one arise. When disasters strike, business operations often must come to a halt. If you have an Emergency Ready Plan (ERP) in place, the likelihood of opening the doors back soon is stronger.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto offers a free community service that involves visiting commercial properties to complete an Emergency Ready Plan (ERP). ERPs contain detail regarding your property, such as who owns the property and where the emergency shut offs are located. Our staff documents and photographs where electrical, water, and gas shut-off valves are, and where fire sprinkler systems and alarm systems are located as well. Within your ERP will also be important contact details for the owner, SERVPRO, utility companies for the facility, insurance agents for the property, and any managers that may need to be reached when an emergency happens.

The Emergency Ready Plan is ideal because the owner usually knows where all these important things are; however, when a disaster strikes, the owner may not be available. If all these details are in one spot and everyone is aware where to find the information staff can be more prepared and emergency, mitigation, and restoration services can start faster. This eliminates costly property damages and uncertainty when a disaster strikes.

Schedule your ERP with SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto. We will be glad to help.

Water Damage from Sprinkler Systems in Commercial Buildings

1/9/2020 (Permalink)

Commercial Office ceiling with projector, lights, and sprinkler system Commercial office building equipped with a fire sprinkler system.

Fire sprinkler systems protect businesses from property loss and aide in the safety of personal. Sprinklers are a great support in fire safety, the downside is that there is quite a wet mess left behind after the sprinkler system goes off. Fire sprinkler systems will turn on as soon as a fire is detected. This is usually when the fire is its last stage and developed. Fire sprinkler systems save commercial buildings in catastrophic fire damage events. A fire sprinkler system might let out hundreds of gallons of water to stop a fire while a firefighter may use thousands of gallons. Someone must clean this up.

Water damage from a sprinkler system can affect the drywall, carpeting, equipment to run the business, data loss, and many other building materials. A mitigation and restoration service provider can mitigate and restore your water damaged belongings. SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto will arrive promptly and assess the damages. Our experienced staff will create a plan to return your property back to its original state.

Some steps expected in a commercial fire:

  1. Possessions to be cleared out.
  2. Removal of water
  3. Drying the area
  4. Complete cleanup
  5. Repairing the damage

As soon as the fire is put out and clearance has been given by firefighters, contacting a reputable mitigation and restoration service provider right away. Ensure that the company you contact specializes in both fire damage and water damage.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto specializes in both fire and water damage for commercial and residential needs. Make sure you contact the service company as soon as everyone is safe and the fire department has given clearance to do so because the quicker the service provider shows up the better, as the longer it sits the more damages can be incurred.

How Does Water Damage Occur in Commercial Buildings?

1/9/2020 (Permalink)

store freezer Freezers in the grocery store often malfunction

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto’s staff are often asked what types of water damage can really occur at a commercial site. Until your building suffers flooding or water damage, it is not at the forefront of one’s mind. There are so many things that can happen at a commercial building. It all depends on what type of business it is regarding what type of incident can come forth.

Common sources of commercial flooding

  • Pipes that burst in the kitchen, bathroom, or just on the exterior of the building
  • Fire sprinkler systems after a fire
  • Appliances that overflow in the kitchen
  • Sink or toilet overflow in the bathroom
  • Weather-related flooding

Other sources of commercial flooding

  • Freezer or cooler malfunction
  • Water tank break
  • Ice tank thaws and breaks
  • Food prep areas. Staff may leave the faucet on and unintended
  • Live fish tanks break and can contaminate materials (used for live seafood or décor)

This list of potential incidents can cause devastating water losses, and you may need a professional restoration company to assist, especially if the water contaminates structural materials.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto specializes in commercial water damage. Our staff could come and use truck-mounted pumps and extractors to remove any standing water. Our project managers will create a personalized plan to restore any damage linked to the flooding.

There are so many variants as to what can happen should flooding arise and with those variants come different ways to solve the issue at hand. If flooding waterlogged, our team restores the surface with a thorough cleaning and then position air movers and dehumidifiers for optimal mitigation. Tile or vinyl floors usually restore easily for our staff, but if there are areas with hardwood or laminate flooring, or carpeting, our technicians use special techniques learned during IICRC training to restore these materials.

These are just a few examples of the extensive work that goes into restoring your commercial building back to its original state.

Stanislaus County: Flood Risk

1/8/2020 (Permalink)

California sunset and river A river in Northern California area

Last spring CBS 10 News wrote an article, ‘Stanislaus County: What every person should know about flood risk’, and the article gave warning that everyone should educate themselves about flood risk despite the amount of rain and snowmelt needed to create a large flood impact. Floods have occurred in the recent past because of weather in the Manteca and Modesto areas, and household mishaps happen on top of bad weather concerns. Flood risk is a big priority in the Manteca and Modesto area for these reasons.

What rivers pose a flood risk in Stanislaus County:

At risk in the Modesto area is the downtown area and the low-lying trailer parks along the Tuolumne River. Dry Creek can be an issue because of unregulated flows. This stream is observed carefully. Dry Creek and the Don Pedro River releases make up most of the flow below 9th street in Modesto and pose a risk in this location.

The San Joaquin River poses more issues because it is harder to predict flood risk as it has multiple rivers flowing into it. To name one, the Merced River causes some concern when flows are at or above flood stage. The major concern is the lower-lying trailer parks western of Stanislaus County.

Extensive flooding hit the area back in 1997 as Don Pedro Dam filled up and had uncontrolled releases. These releases mixed with Dry creek’s uncontrolled flows overwhelmed the levees and massive flooding occurred. Flooding even protruded out to Modesto’s urban areas.

As horrible as the floods were in 1997, the last set of flood damages reported occurred just a few years ago in 2017. Don Pedro River’s spillways opened for the first time in 20 years. Mostly affected were the lower residential regions, like the trailer parks in the area.

 Be Prepared for Flooding:

  • Register your home, work, and children’s school addresses for alerts with StanAware
  • Have a safety kit ready: water, batteries, flashlights, fuel, important documents, etc
  • Have an evacuation route planned

A flood being likely or not, it is important to stay alert regarding flood risk in the area and to understand flooding is not only caused by heavy rains. Household accidents can cause flooding as well. Be alert and be safe.

Six Steps to Removing Mold in the Home

1/8/2020 (Permalink)

shower with golden tiles Mold and mildew are often found in the shower or the shower ceiling and walls.

Mold will grow where there is moisture such as around the areas of leaks, windows, pipes, and roofs. Mold grows especially well on paper, cardboard, wood, and ceiling tiles. Mold is often found growing in paints, wallpaper, insulation, drywall, carpet, fabric, and upholstery as well.

Mold enters the home through open doorways, windows, vents, and heating and air conditioning systems. Mold will attach itself to clothing, shoes, and pets easily. Mold spores that are transferred indoors will grow rapidly the more moisture there is.

Preventing Mold in the Home

There are preventive measures to keep mold from spreading in the home that may help prevent issues further down the line.

  • Don’t use carpet in bathrooms or basements as they have more moisture than other rooms.
  • Keep humidity levels low by using an air conditioner or dehumidifier when humid.
  • Ensure the home has plenty of ventilation.
  • Fix any leaks in the home. Check the roof, walls, and any plumbing

Steps to Removing Mold in the Home

If mold is growing in the home, then your house has an issue with water or moisture. Finding the source is the first step. Check the obvious places first, as mentioned. If mold is found, it is best to contact a professional to test the mold and to rid your home of mold. There are many steps that need to be considered with mold growth.

  1. Once mold is detected contact our office, day or night, at 209-823-8877
  2. SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto will assist quickly and complete an Inspection and Mold Damage Assessment
  3. Our team will then contain the mold and use air filtration to the affected area to prevent mold growth
  4. Removal of mold and mold infested materials takes place after containment
  5. Our staff will clean contents and belongings in the home
  6. Restoring any parts of the damage happens last

The correct equipment and chemicals are needed in mold mitigation and restoration. Removing mold from your home properly is very important. A simple cleaning of spotted mold will not do the trick.

Protecting your Home from Flooding

1/6/2020 (Permalink)

raindrops on a window Rainstorm and Flooding in the Modesto and Manteca area

After a natural disaster, such as a flood or storm, it is imperative to address any water damages that occur in the home. This must be done right away. Without the proper water damage restoration services set in place, restoring your home and bringing it back to its pre-damaged condition can be difficult. Mold can set in and grow, creating horrible odors and posing major health concerns. Taking the correct steps and working with the correct restoration service company can alleviate a lot of hassle and save you money in the long run.

As a homeowner in the Manteca and Modesto area being aware of flood danger zones, knowing what to do in a flood, and understanding what steps to take after a flood is the best preparation one could do. There are options to consider in preparation for flooding due to a storm.

Here are a few tips for home flood preparation:

  1. Close foundation cracks with mortar, masonry caulk, or hydraulic cement. Hydraulic cement is inexpensive and expands and fills gaps.
  2. Invest in battery-powered sump pumps. Sump pumps allow you to pump water out of your home should your home experience flooding.
  3. Install sewer or septic link check valves. these allow waste to flow only one way so that sewage can’t back up into the standing water in your home.
  4. Move expensive belongings to a safe location. If you have expensive pieces of furniture or artwork get them to the second floor or the attic if you have this as an option.
  5. Ensure you have proper insurance. Many homeowner’s insurance policies do not cover cleanup or repair of flood damage.

There are many options you can consider when protecting your home and your family from flood damage, some are easier and less expensive than others. Some options require professional flood damage restoration services from an experienced and specially trained company such as SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto. Our technicians have professional-grade equipment that can rid your home of all the standing water and dry your home back out.

How to Restore Your Home After a Stove Fire

1/3/2020 (Permalink)

pan with oil and pancake mix frying 50% of home fires have started in the kitchen

Cooking is the number one cause of fires in the home. According to the U.S Fire department, over 50% of reported home fires have started in the kitchen. Most common ways a fire is started in the kitchen are: materials near open flames, frying with oil, cooking temperature, unattended cooking, faulty appliances, loose fitting clothing, cooking while tired or impaired, too many people cooking at once, and not having safety measures such as a fire extinguisher.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto’s fire damage restoration crews are always on standby for fires in the home. We are quick to arrive to assess the damage and begin the cleanup and restoration process as soon as the fire department gives clearance to do so.

Once we are given clearance, a project manager assesses the extent of the kitchen damage and in the remaining areas of the house to create a plan that will address all affected areas. HVAC systems are turned off immediately, if running soot and other residues will spread through the home. If the smoke gets into the vents, it is necessary to clean the vent ducts as well.

If water put out the fire, the first task is to remove and dispose of any moisture. Drying techniques begin if needed. Thereafter, removal of any soot, chemical residues, and smoky odors takes place. It is imperative to act fast as waiting even a few hours before starting the cleanup process can discolor plastics, glass, and metal materials.

Depending on the extent of the damage, your home and belongings may just need a proper cleaning with proper equipment backed behind a professional team. If charring or melting is severe, some materials or appliances may need replacement. We will ensure your home is cleaned and restored to top shape, and once the job is complete, our goal is to make it “Like it never even happened.”

Avoid a Fire by Turning Off Lights in the Home

1/3/2020 (Permalink)

blue house with lights left on Light Safety Advice in the Home

Turn lights off in your home to avoid a house fire. Many people leave their lights on through the day or the night for several reasons.  When vacationing or leaving the home for a time period, many of us will leave a light on to trick house intruders into thinking we are home. Often, we will use a bathroom or hall light as a night light in case we need to get up in the middle of the night. It could even be as simple as leaving a room intending to still use the room and being distracted to not return to turn off the light. Not only will you save on your electric bill but turning off lights in the home prevents household fires.

House fires from lights being left on are not only worrisome because of lightbulbs heating.  A lamp can get knocked over by a pet or just because it is not securely on a table, floor lamps get knocked over easy as the carpet they rest upon are often an unsteady surface, wiring can fry and a spark can catch onto the carpet or close hanging drapes. Despite the reasoning, there are measures you can take to avoid a house fire due to lights being left on.

Light Safety Advice

  • Turn off lights when not in use
  • Read lightbulb manufacturer instructions
  • Ensure lamps are on a sturdy surface and not near other materials
  • When vacationing use a modern light timer to eliminate the need of lights being constantly turned on
  • Ensure lightbulbs are the correct wattage for the lamp or fixture in use
  • Ensure that lightbulbs are screwed in properly and are secure. Loose bulbs can easily overheat

Following these tips will be instrumental for you in fire safety with lights and light bulbs.

The Benefits of Hiring SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto for Restoration After a Disaster

12/26/2019 (Permalink)

checklist with black ink and green pencil Benefits of Hiring SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto

Once a disaster presents itself, the number one priority is to make sure everyone is safe. Once everyone is safe, the next step is to stop the problem and then remedy the issue. The last thing on a business owner’s mind when a catastrophe takes place is the actual steps to take to fix the problem and most people do not even know who to contact when one does present itself.

Calling a franchised mitigation and restoration company right away is ideal because all your cleaning, mitigation, and restoration tasks can be addressed by just one company. SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto is a one-stop-shop to mitigation and restoration services and holds many benefits to the business owner and the insurance agent.

Benefits of Hiring SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto

  1. Manage Disaster of Any Size

Hiring a company local to the site requiring mitigation and restoration work is useful because a local company will understand the disasters possible for the area and will possess the proper training to handle the situation at hand, no matter what size of the loss. A local franchise will best understand the challenges of the loss, as they will understand the local landscape and challenges that come from the area best.

  1. Quick to Arrive

When an emergency strikes, it can happen day or night. It is imperative to arrive right away. SERVPRO is open 24 hours and 7 days a week to provide restoration or cleaning emergency services. Reaching out to a local franchise is best because not only will they use the right equipment, but they will respond so much quicker.

  1. Preparedness

A local franchise will have the tools you need, and they will be trained for the task at hand. If the franchise did not own enough equipment for your large loss, the corporation can send out more equipment to ensure that the local franchise team takes care of your needs properly. Smaller companies do not possess the luxury of getting the equipment required for a large loss nor do they have the proper training usually.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto’s staff are highly trained mitigation and restoration specialists. SERVPRO franchises require staff to study procedures and practices regularly. Staff must stay up to date on information to handle commercial losses quickly and efficiently.

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto can manage your loss no matter what size it is, respond quicker to any disaster, and will have the tools and knowledge needed to get your business in the shape it was before “Like it never even happened.”

Mold Testing for the Home

12/23/2019 (Permalink)

Mold along a wall and cement floor SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto can inspect, assess and remediate your property for mold.

If a musty smell presents itself in your home the stench could very well be mold. It is vital to test for mold, as it can grow rapidly and can be a costly hazard for your home. Not only is this an issue for basic home upkeep but it can lead to mold allergy and can cause many discomforting symptoms such as wheezing, rashes, watery and itchy eyes, a runny nose, coughing, and more. Besides mold allergy being a nuisance, serious health problems can occur due to mold being in the home.

To test for mold it is best to hire a professional. A home test kit won’t tell you the location of the mold, the extent of the mold growth, or the type of mold your home possesses. A home testing kit for mold will tell you one thing, it only lets you know that mold is present.

When a certified professional tests your home for mold you will get the following:

  1. A certified professional will come to assess the situation. This person would have participated in extensive training and will follow the standards set by the IICRC.
  2. Awareness of the extent of the mold damage will be discussed.
  3. You will understand what part of the home needs mold remediation.
  4. The mold will be tested so that you will be aware of what type of mold is in your home.
  5. Mold will be removed from the home and clearance testing will occur once complete.

Save yourself the cost of extensive damage to your home by hiring a professional company that specializes in mold. Do not wait, as mentioned, mold grows quickly.

No need to purchase a home kit to test mold. The less expensive option, in the long run, is to hire the correct individuals to your home right away. SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto will address your needs with mold remediation and restoration.

Preventing Water Pipes from Freezing

12/2/2019 (Permalink)

Water pipe with frozen ice-cycles Frozen water pipe

Freezing water pipes can easily cause a pipe to burst, this can lead to serious flooding in the home. Manteca and Modesto's areas are particularly prone to freezing pipes because warmer climates usually do not call for as much insulation as colder areas. If insulation is not the issue, frozen pipes can start outdoors where there is no protection from freezing.

The goal is to keep pipes warm enough to stay above the point of freezing. Water generally freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit. You can keep your pipes warm a number of ways.

5 Ways to Keep Water Pipes from Freezing

  1. Keep Heat On

On a cold day leave your heat on even if you will be leaving the home for a longer period. Heat should be at least ten degrees above freezing. Freezing temperatures are dependent upon our altitude. The heat will help prevent pipes from freezing.

  1. Keep Cabinet Doors Open

Usually, pipes are in cabinet areas. On cold days, leave the cabinet’s doors open so the heat coming from your home can keep your pipes warm enough to prevent freezing.

  1. Allow Faucet to Drip

Allowing your faucet to have a slight drip will relieve pressure in the system. A pipe burst will normally come from the pressure between the blockage of ice and the faucet itself. Keep the faucet open by letting the water run slowly on a colder day. Single handle faucets should be on warm. Duel faucets, hot and cold water, should both be on just enough to allow a slow drip.

  1. Seal Cracks and Holes

Seal any holes spotted in the interior and exterior of your home, especially where the hole could be letting in cold air.

  1. Add More Insulation

If you have experienced freezing pipes insulate your home better for preventive measures. Start with checking basements and attics. Pipes can be wrapped with foam rubber or fiberglass sleeves to help decrease the freezing likelihood. Added insulation to walls and ceilings may be necessary.

Common Causes of Flooding in Homes

11/22/2019 (Permalink)

Flooding can happen easily and is more than just a mere inconvenience. Floods in the home are quite dangerous and can cost a homeowner in extensive repairs. Manteca and Modesto homeowners are especially prone to flooding as riverbanks swell, however, flooding doesn’t arise only from bad weather.

Here are six of the most common causes of flooding in the home:

  1. Clogged Rain Gutters

If gutters are clogged, they can’t do their job. Rain gutters are supposed to allow water to drain from the roof. When a heavy rainfall presents itself, gutters should be clean of dirt and debris.

  1. Broken Pipes

It only takes a few minutes for a broken pipe to flood a home. Pay attention and look for any minor leaks and know where your main shut off valve is should a busted pipe occur.

  1. Poor Drainage

Poor drainage goes without saying. If the water sources in your home do not drain properly then flooding is likely. If you notice a slow drain contact a plumber right away.

  1. Appliances

Make sure that your appliances are properly connected. Make sure there are no leaks or blocks in plumbing that lead to appliances.

  1. Foundation Issues

If your home has foundation damage, water can easily enter through floors. Come fall season, take a walk around your home’s premises and see if you note any cracks or damage in your house’s foundation.

  1. Weather

There is not much you can do about weather caused flooding besides staying aware, having an emergency weather plan, and following any local warnings. Following the steps mentioned will help should you have heavy rainfall.

If flooding does occur, call our professional mitigation and restoration team to help dry the area and restore your home back to pre-flood conditions. We will take care of the water damage in your home ‘like it never happened’.

Top 4 Safety Tips to Avoid a Fire This Holiday Season

11/11/2019 (Permalink)

Two pots on the stove that are boiling with steam Cooking is the number one cause for fires

According to the National Fire Protection Association, there are more fires in the winter months than any other time of the year. This makes perfect sense as it is colder in winter. We turn to our heating systems like space heaters, fireplaces, woodstoves, and other heat devices to keep us warm.

Not only do we have our heat running to keep us cozy but most of us opt to bring in the holidays with a lot of food. Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations call for a lot of cooking. The number one cause of home fires happens to be just that, cooking! No need to skip on your favorite savory meals this winter in hopes to prevent fires this holiday season, just take a few extra precautionary steps to avoid fires.

Here are some tips to avoid cooking fires.

  1. If you must leave the kitchen while your stove or oven is on have someone else in the home check on food while you are away.
  2. If no one is available to check on your food while you step away, a good tip from safebee.com is to carry one of your oven mitts when you step out of the kitchen. Doing so will work as a reminder to go back to the kitchen to tend to your food.
  3. Children and pets should not be in cooking areas without supervision.
  4. Ensure when cooking you wear close-fitting clothes and make sure that your sleeves are tightly rolled when stirring food. Clothes often catch fire when they hang close to the stove burners so just be mindful of this.

Taking these steps will decrease your chances of having a cooking fire.

If you should have a stove fire what now? In the event of a fire and if it is safe for you to do so, turn off the burner immediately and cover the pan with a lid. Do not use water, baking soda or flour to extinguish grease fires. Another great tip is to not carry burning pots or pans through the house as they can easily spread the fire to other parts of the home. If your oven catches fire, turn off the oven and keep the oven door shut.

Have an emergency evacuation plan and call 9-1-1 as soon as it is safe for you to do so. Once all is settled and the fire is extinguished call SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto for your fire damage restoration needs.

8 Tips to Prepare for a Heavy Rain or Windstorm

11/6/2019 (Permalink)

Heavy rain hitting the roof of a home and the home’s rain gutters. Heavy Rain

Be as ready as you can be for coming storms if you live where heavy rains or winds are predicted. Heavy rains lead to water leaks through the roof and ceilings, soaking walls and furniture while flooding floors. How can you best prepare and protect your home and belongings?

8 Tips to prepare for a storm

  1. Gutters can get clogged with leaves and other debris. Clean out gutters and waterspouts before rain season and after each rain. Leaves and debris are often pushed into gutters as they wash down from the roof after it rains. Look for loose gutters and replace those.
  2. After a storm, take a quick look to see if any large debris, like tree branches, has fallen on your roof. If you find anything large that needs removal, hire a professional to get rid of it. If there is no sign of debris, from ground level, check your roof for broken, loose, or cracked shingles or tiles and for any bubbling or blistering in shingles or tiles. Use binoculars if need be. If you spot any damage hire a professional for repair.
  3. Inspect the siding of your home. Check for cracks or holes and seal in any leaks that you come across.
  4. Weather-strip your home. Windows and doors let in cool air if weather-stripping needs to be replaced. Minimize heat loss and ensure that your weather-stripping is not damaged. Replace if needed.
  5. Consider a backup generator. If there is a power outage, an emergency generator can keep a few lights and appliances on for a few hours up to 24 hours.
  6. Cover outdoor furniture, barbecues, and any outdoor equipment with heavy tarps. Secure tarps so that heavy winds do not expose or damage your belongings.
  7. Make sure your trees are trimmed. Trees weaken with droughts, and when the rain comes, weak trees can snap or uproot. The cities of Manteca and Modesto are susceptible to this more so than other cities as droughts are imminent during summer months and heavy rains come winter months.
  8. Make sure you have a disaster supply kit. Important documents should be stored in the cloud. Ensure you have home insurance in case your home is flooded even if you are not located in a high-risk area. Anything could happen, a pipe may burst, heavy rain can cave in a roof, etc.  Make sure you are covered.

Checking Your Roof After a Storm

11/3/2019 (Permalink)

Clay tile roofing that is damaged Roofing

Check your roof to ensure it does not need repair. If you wait for a leak to present itself, the problem will be worse, damaging more than just your roof but your ceiling, walls, floors, and perhaps belongings inside the home. After heavy rains, hail, or wind checking your roof for any damage can save you money on house repairs.

Different style roofs call for different methods when inspecting your roof. No matter what style start your inspection on the exterior of the house. For safety reasons, do not go on your roof to do this; you can do a quick check at ground level. Take a quick walk around the home, make sure there is no large debris on your roof. After that checks out, use binoculars if you feel the need. If you witness large debris or damage, call a professional to address the issue.

Asphalt-Shingled Roofs

See if you spot loose, cracked, or broken shingles. If there is bubbling and blistering in the shingles, this shows that moisture has traveled to the interior of the shingle. Replace any damaged shingles as soon as you can. Doing so will help you avoid leaks and any further structural damage.

Wood Shingles or Wood Shake Roofs

Wood shingled roofs or wood shake roofs are less common than asphalt shingled roofs. These roof types are often chosen for aesthetics but can be more troublesome should there be damage. Broken, separated, cracked or damage to the shingles or shakes is what you seek. Replace these as soon as possible; if you do not, it can lead to a leak causing extensive damage.

Tile Roofs

Tile roofs are expensive but are more fire-resistant. These roofs provide more protection against heavy winds and last longer. Seek broken or chipped tiles. Do any tiles appear as if they may have separated? Water can seep between tiles if there is separation. If any tiles are separated or flew off, repair them right away.

Flat Roofs

Flat roofs are made using waterproof materials, these are usually found in commercial buildings.  Water puddles, indents, or tears in the seams where water could seep in are all signs damage may be present. Make sure gutters and water drains are working as flat roofs do not have self-draining as they do not incline like other popular roofs.

Metal Roofs

Look for dents in metal roofs. IF the dent has any openings, the roof needs repair. Also, spot any signs of rusting and any separation between metal roof panels.

Once you have looked around the exterior of your property, take a peek at the interior. See if there are any signs of damage.  Are there any leaks or soft spots in the ceiling? Check walls for any water damage. If you spot water damage, contact a professional mitigation company. If water sits, mold and mildew will grow. This can lead to high cost, reach out to your chosen mitigation company at the first sign of water damage.

How to Prevent Home Fires

10/28/2019 (Permalink)

Gas stove with two burners that are lit Gas Stove

Fires can be preventable. Educate household members and take safety measures to avoid household fires, this can save your life. The following are some simple steps used to avert a fire event.

Smoking

  • Smoke outdoors, especially in homes where oxygen is used. Oxygen can be explosive and will cause a fire to burn faster and hotter.
  • If you do smoke indoors, ensure you do not smoke when sleepy, under the influence of alcohol, or when on medication. Many house fires start with sleepy or careless accidents.
  • Butts go in an ashtray and should be completely put out.
  • To ensure all cigarette butts are cooled, when discarding, soak in water before dumping them in the trash.

Cooking

  • Do not leave the stove unattended when cooking. When frying, grilling, or broiling foods be extra cautious. Leaving the kitchen shortly requires you to turn off the stove.
  • Children should learn to stay away from the stove unattended, at least three feet.
  • Do not wear baggy clothes and ensure your sleeves are rolled up when cooking.
  • BBQ grills should be at least 10 feet away from the home, this includes being 10 feet away from overhanging branches and patio ceilings.

Children

  • Teach children the danger of fire and teach them that fire is a tool and not to be played with.
  • Ensure lighters and matches are out of your children’s reach and sight.
  • Do not leave children to their devices when meals are being cooked or when candles are lit in the home.

Electrical & Appliance

  • Never use a stove or oven to heat your home.
  • Replace all damaged or worn appliance cords right away.
  • Do not run cords under rugs or furniture.
  • Three-prong plugs belong in three-slot outlets. Don’t force them into two-slot outlets or a two-slot extension cord.
  • Lights that flicker or light switches hot to touch need to be replaced.
  • Keep combustible objects three feet or more from portable space heaters.
  • Keep any combustible liquids away from heat sources.
  • Portable generators are to be used outdoors only and should only be refueled outdoors and where well ventilated.
  • Your portable heater should come equipped with a thermostat control mechanism and should switch off on its own if the heater falls over.
  • Use crystal clear K-1 Kerosene in kerosene heaters.
  • Do not overfill kerosene heaters.
  • Only use kerosene heaters in a well-ventilated room.

Fireplaces & Woodstoves

  • Check for any damage to your fireplaces or woodstoves
  • Inspect and clean woodstove pipes and chimneys annually.
  • Use fireplace screens that are heavy enough to stop any rolling logs and that is big enough to cover the opening of the fireplace to catch any flying sparks.
  • The fire must be out and cool before leaving the home or going to bed.

These safety measures are a good start to being preventing a fire in your home.

As soon as you call SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto, the restoration process begins. We are open 24 hours a day for any water emergency that comes your way. With water damage, an immediate response is needed. The longer the delay, the more severe the damage, even hours can be a major problem.

2 - Inspection and Damage Assessment

SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto team will identify and stop the water source. Once the source is contained, our team can then check the water for any contamination. Once the water is checked for contamination, we can begin the restoration process using the proper guidelines and equipment for the category type.

3 - Water Removal/Water Extraction

Water extraction can begin once inspection and damage assessment is complete. Water will be removed from the premises at this step of the mitigation process. Using powerful pumps and truck-mounted vacuum units allows for the removal of thousands of gallons of water from your property if needed.

Fun Fact: A ½ inch broken pipe will expel at 7 gallons per minute. Do the math… If left unchecked in one week’s time, 70,560 gallons of water could easily flood your home or business.

Removing most of the water right away is necessary, as this helps reduce drying time. The quicker the drying process takes, the less the likelihood of permanent water damage and mold and bacterial growth.

In this stage, belongings will be packed and moved if needed. Carpet and padding are inspected to determine if it needs removal.

4 - Drying and Dehumidification

There is a science to the drying and the dehumidification process, proper training, and experience is required. Our team uses room measurements, temperature, and humidity levels to dictate the equipment to use and how the equipment will be used for the task at hand.  We monitor the drying process using moisture meters and dehumidifiers to ensure the area is dry enough before proceeding to the next step.

5 - Cleaning and Repair

Professional cleaning is most likely needed at this point. Walls, flooring, ceiling, furniture, upholstery, clothing, and even other belongings may need attention in the cleaning or repair process. When there is flooding, and water damage odor removal and deodorization are needed too.

As leaders in the water damage industry, SERVPRO of Manteca and Modesto has advanced training, expertise, and a vast amount of hands-on experience to handle your water damage concerns. We will dry your home and restore it to pre-water damage conditions. We will ensure to document the drying process and validate to your insurance company that the work is complete.

The goal is to protect and preserve what we can.

Repairs and Minor Building Services

Repairs may be needed, depending on the damage caused. To get your home or building back to pre-water damage condition drywall removal and installation, hardwood floor repair, tile floor repair, painting, carpet repair and installation, building services and reconstruction may be needed.

7 Home Fire Safety Tips

10/17/2019 (Permalink)

Red and white safety symbols for fire Fire Safety Symbols

A fire safety plan can save your life and can aid in saving you unnecessary costs. Fire emergency planning is essential. According to the National Fire Protection Association, an “estimated $23 billion in property damage occurred as a result of fire in 2017, a large increase, as this number includes a $10 billion loss in wildfires in Northern California”. Be prepared and practice these fire safety methods before an emergency occurs in your home.

7 Fire Safety Tips for the Home

  1. Install the correct number of fire alarms for your home. Test each fire alarm at least twice a year and replace batteries at least once a year.

The National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72) requires that newer homes have hard-wired interconnected alarms with a battery backup on each level of the home and in each hallway. Wire your alarms together. Wiring your alarms together allows for the alarms to all sound at the same time once one goes off.

The same metrics should be followed in older homes, install fire alarms at every level of the home and in all sleeping areas. Connecting fire alarms is ideal in older homes, just as expected in newer home models. If you are asleep and dangerous gases are in the air, you wouldn’t be aware unless you heard the fire alarm. Having alarms nearby allows you to act fast. The quicker you can respond, the better for you and your home’s safety.

  1. Children need to know the sound of a fire alarm. When an alarm goes off, children need to understand what steps to take to exit the home.
  1. Keep fire extinguishers in the home. Replace them when they expire
  1. Define escape routes in case of a fire. Have two plans of escape just in case the fire blocks the original planned route. Each family member in the home should understand where to meet outside of the home once they make it out and then what the steps are to take to get fire emergency services.
  1. Practice planned fire escape routes at least twice a year. It is as easy as pressing the smoke alarm button to test it and practicing escape routes dependent upon where household members are at in the home at the time of testing.
  1. Make sure children can call 9-1-1.
  1. Teach residents in the home how ‘STOP, DROP, and ROLL’ in case clothing catches fire.

These fire safety tips can help save lives and help save on costly repairs to your home. The quicker you can get out and the quicker you can call 9-1-1 for fire rescue is imperative.

Most Common Types of Storm Damage

10/15/2019 (Permalink)

Street storm damage with fallen branches with words that say storm damage SERVPRO Storm Damage

Thunderstorms cause a lot of harm and the amount of destruction caused by lightening can be unpredictable. Some storms come and go with little effect, and others cause minor damage to the home. Worst-case scenario, storms can cause families to uproot from their homes, causing them to need temporary housing. For a commercial facility, flooding or fire damage from a storm can cause business closure for a few hours, up to weeks or more.

Large amounts of rain with high winds and lightning can be a huge threat to our community and our safety.

Flood Damage

Some areas of Modesto and Manteca are more prone to flood damage than others. Just multiple inches of rain can cause major issues. In areas you do not expect flooding, a few inches of rain can easily clog a drainpipe and cause disaster. Flood damage is usually found in homes with basements or in residential and business communities in lower levels of the valley.

Wind Damage

Wind causes a lot of destruction. Roof damage is the number one complaint after a windstorm. Shingles become loose over time and without proper roofing materials, your homes and businesses become unprotected. Fencing can fall over, and even worse, a tree can fall atop your home or vehicle causing major damages.

Fire Damage

Storms produce dangerous amounts of lightning, causing structural fires. Fires happen quite often especially in places that have been through a long dry spell. Homes and businesses near fields, trees, and vegetation are at higher risk for fire. Modesto and Manteca pose for major concerns because of droughts. Due to droughts, water policy is often stricter than other cities causing Modesto and Manteca to be extra cautious come drier seasons.

Tips to Successful Graffiti Removal

10/14/2019 (Permalink)

According to Area Vibes, the Modesto Police Department has stated as of July 2019, ‘Stanislaus County has estimated there are at least 50 active gangs in the area. Gangs tend to mark their territory by tagging permanent structures “. In Modesto alone, reports show that crime involving property stands 59% higher than the rest of the state and 68% higher than the nation’s average. Property crimes include burglary, larceny, theft, motor vehicle theft, arson, shoplifting, and vandalism. These statistics still speak volumes. Graffiti is a concern to those living in Modesto and Manteca.

When your commercial building gets tagged with graffiti, best to hire a certified and experienced company to remove the graffiti for you.

Tips to Successful Graffiti Removal

  • Pre-wet the surface when using any alkaline paint remover. Pre-wet the surface surrounding the graffiti. Do not wet the affected section if the cleaning agent is solvent-based or incompatible with water. Incorrect cleaning solutions can damage the building.  It is best to seek a skilled professional to avoid any further surface damage.
  • Rinse the cleaning solution used to rid your structural building of graffiti. Start at the bottom and move upward. This will prevent the cleaning agent from running downward and staining a lower contact surface.
  •  When temperatures range from hot to cold, the measure in which paint remover will work is slim. Climate temperature is a leading source of why removing graffiti is difficult in our local region. Modesto and Manteca have higher air temperatures. so, it requires specialists to remove graffiti. Cleaning and restoration experts have the correct tools, solutions, and training to get the job done.
  • Commercial buildings can pose an issue with graffiti removal because of the variations of materials used in the build. Let it be bedding planes, density, finish, or weathering checked after treatment. There is a large likelihood the paint will still being visible after removal tactics are performed. A professional commercial cleaning and restoration team has the experience and resources to rid you of paint stains without the guesswork.
  • Mortar joints behave differently than masonry units and often need different cleaning materials and methods to remove the graffiti
  • After graffiti removal, test the surface to make sure cleaning solutions were removed, preventing damage to the building’s surface.

Graffiti removal can be a trial-and-error experience for you. Someone knowledgeable in masonry materials, graffiti materials, and cleaning techniques for graffiti removal should do the job to avoid surface deterioration and long hours spent on a project.

Water and Mold Tips for your Business

1/15/2019 (Permalink)

Protecting a business from a major fire or water damage is not something that is at the forefront of any commercial property owners mind, but knowing what to do should that situation ever arise is vital. Here is some information about the various categories of structure damages, and the safety precautions surrounding them, that every business owner should know:

  • Fire Classifications and Extinguishers  -  A fire with a stable supply of fuel, oxygen, and heat can double in size within 60 seconds; therefore, quick action is key to preventing catastrophic damage. Fires, and their extinguishers, are categorized into 5 different classes based on fuel types. An ABC fire extinguisher is typically what most people stock within their homes and businesses as it is versatile – it can extinguish 3 out of the 5 fire groups; however, fires result from Class K type situations, which require their own specific extinguisher.
  • Mold, Myths, and Facts - Bleach does not kill mold, it can even make a mold problem worse. It is effective if the growth is on a hard, solid surface, such as tile or glass, but it will not work when the surface is porous. Unfortunately, many growths occur on these materials, like drywall and wood, in our homes. Bleach does not soak into porous materials, which means it can’t reach the growth spread out through the pores, it only kills the surface. The outer surface of the affected area will appear clean, as the bleach will have whitened any stains and scrubbed away the exterior mold, but the internal mold will be quick to grow back.
  • Signs of a Water Damage - While it may seem like water damages should be easy to spot, many times their signs are subtle and hard to find. Water damages, particularly when they go unnoticed for a long period of time, can cause extensive damage to the structure of homes and they encourage mold growth. Early intervention can save you time and money. These signs can include stains, peeling, and a bad odor.

If you experience any damage to your commercial property due to fire, water, or even mold call SERVPRO of Manteca at 209-823-8777 to handle all of your restoration needs.

Mold in the Central Valley

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

Since there is little seasonal change around Manteca, many residents and homeowners forget about routine maintenance. Some mistakenly believe that with no significant drop in temperature and the damp that goes with it, their house is safer from mold than in other parts of the country. That belief is just not accurate.

Manteca mold damage can happen as quickly here as in a dank basement in the mid-west. Mold spores grow and thrive in temperatures as warm as 85 degrees. Some species live at even higher temperatures. To stop active mold growth and prevent future expansion from starting, SERVPRO has developed a process that finds the source of the mold, isolates it, kills active spores and then removes the rest.

First, is sealing off the mold infested area. Our response team blocks hallway openings, doors, and windows using plastic sheeting to isolate the mold and prevent it from contaminated more of the home. Team members also seal the HVAC vents to prevent mold from getting into the ductwork. If we found mold already in the ducts, we seal off all vents in the house to prevent mold spreading to other rooms.

Second, we wipe down surfaces to begin cleaning mold off the personal and structural property. For nonporous surfaces like glass and metal, we use either a dry or wet cloth depending on how thick the mold is on a glass table or refrigerator for example. If the surface is porous, like a carpet or sheetrock panel, then we usually recommend disposal and replacement as that usually is more cost-effective than cleaning. After finishing, SERVPRO technicians may use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter attached. These filters are designed to trap even a single mold spore.

After cleaning, we wait for the dust to settle. Our actions disturb mold, so some of it temporarily escapes to the air. When enough time has passed, we wipe down each surface again and repeat the process until we are satisfied your home is clean.

Finally, we bring down the air moisture content of your home, also called humidity, to lower the risk of mold returning after we leave. Technicians set up space heaters to carefully warm the air while installing dehumidifiers to draw moisture out of the surrounding air and property.

Remediating mold damage is not a short or easy process. With SERVPRO of Manteca on your side, it gets done correctly to put you back into your home as quickly and safely as possible.

Ways Fire Damage Can Show Up Months Later

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

One thing about house fires that is true in almost all situations is that some damage is not as visible in some parts of a home as it is in others. Some damage is in the loss of utility. A door may seem undamaged, along with its frame, but after a fire, no longer open and close correctly. Windows can also be affected this way. Heat and moisture from fighting that fire can cause wood to swell. Even after remediation has been completed, small things like this can pop up.

Situations that affect a Manteca area home's level of security after fire damage has been remediated still needs to be remediated. Security needs to be restored. These types of fire damage-related issues can appear weeks or months after a fire. Having a situation such as this develop does not mean that the remediation immediately after a fire was unsuccessful. Wood that expands can become more porous, which in turn allows more moisture in the future to be retained, leading to swelling.

Restoring openings to your home that have become impossible to close and open correctly and quickly pose risks to your security. Intruders can gain easier access, and in the event of another disaster, leaving your home might be more difficult, resulting in the loss of precious seconds when they count the most.

Many locks on the market today are made of highly durable plastics. While these are suitable to keep out most burglars, the plastic components can melt during a fire. Some of these locks remain functioning for a while, but then stop working and fall apart internally. If this is the case in your situation, replacement of the lock is a simple enough process.

We can repair these conditions and restore the safety your family deserves. Working to restore homes of our neighbors, family, and friends, we know a safe and secure feeling is important to every family.

Restore Your Home After a Stove Fire

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

Busy lives are full of missteps, some more dangerous than others. Walking away from the stovetop happens when kids call or the doorbell rings, but so then do kitchen fires. SERVPRO of Manteca experts help put your cooking areas, and other affected areas of your home, back together after fire damage.

Sorting out a disagreement between a pair of siblings took you away longer than expected from a pot of water boiling, waiting for some pasta. Instead of cooking dinner, the pot boiled dry and superheated, igniting some potholders, causing fire damage to your home. Our fire damage restoration crews are always on standby for situations such as this. We are ready to assess and begin the cleanup and restoration as soon as the fire department gives the go-ahead.

National statistics point to unattended cooking as the most common cause for the 62 percent of home fires attributed to ranges or cooktops per year. SERVPRO of Manteca team members train on a regular basis to Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) standards to be prepared in industry best practices. A project manager assesses the extent of the damage in the kitchen and other areas of the house and develops a plan to meet your specific needs.

If water put out the fire, SERVPRO’s first job is to remove and dispose of the moisture. Drying techniques begin if the area is very saturated. Then cleanup of soot, chemical residues from fire extinguishers, and smoky odors ensues. The coatings left by fire damage is highly acidic and corrosive. Waiting even a few hours before starting the cleaning process permanently discolors and etches plastics, glass, and metal.

High on the SERVPRO’s checklist is turning off your HVAC system if it is still running as it will spread soot and other residues throughout your home. If smoke sucked into the vents duct cleaning is on the agenda. We match building materials and the character of the sooty coatings when cleaning. Lighter dustings of ash and soot vacuum or dry sponge off well. We use HEPA filtration in our professional vacs. Stickier damage often responds to a spray and wipe technique. Items with many bevels or surfaces like cut glass dishes or window blinds need immersion or even ultrasonic cleaning, requiring a certified technician to operate.

If charring or melting is severe in the kitchen, some materials or appliances may need replacement. Otherwise, we strive to proceed with a restoration mentality, saving you time and money and minimizing disruption to your daily routine.

Leaving Lights on Can Be a Fire Hazard

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

The worst thing that happens when a light is left on is not necessarily a high electric bill. The heat from many kinds of light bulbs is capable of igniting draperies, bedding, and even rugs and carpeting, among other things. SERVPRO of Manteca is a resource for the homeowner recovering from a fire set by this or any method.

Although you cannot be certain exactly how it happened, fire damaged your Manteca home after a lit lamp overturned in a bedroom. Perhaps a pet knocked it down, or it was teetering on the edge of a bedside table, but the bed linens caught fire. Fortunately, a neighbor noticed smoke billowing out of an open window and called 911. You rushed home to find the fire out, but damage in the room, the attic and the roof above it.

A call to SERVPRO of Manteca immediately has our crew arriving right after the fire department authorizes reentry. Fire damage usually poses a complex set of issues, including the obvious charring and destruction to contents and structure, and also water and chemical residue damage, depending on how the first responders extinguished the fire.

Our project manager begins ordering the crew to secure the affected areas from the elements. If the fire burned through the wall or roof to the outside, this is crucial. Then an assessment of the damage ensues. SERVPRO technicians train in safely restoring fire damage, including ensuring that flooring is walkable and that no structural supports are in danger of falling. Water and chemicals make floors slippery, demanding extra care when moving through the rooms for the cleanup crew and the residents.

Items destroyed by flames are bagged for disposal by local rules. Porous articles like mattresses rarely survive unless they untouched by charring, and even then, soot and smoke damage counsel replacement in many cases. Clothing and linens clean up well through laundering or dry cleaning, a task the homeowner may take up to free SERVPRO for more technical matters.

Furniture with soot or other residue needs a dry or wet cleaning, depending on the amount and stickiness of the coating. Our staff uses the least intrusive technique that is effective. Vacuuming and dusting are good for light coverage, while spray and wipe to abrasive cleaners may be needed in other instances. SERVPRO staff checks for charred areas as they emit odors even if cleaned, and determines whether sealing or removal is the best option.

Structural charring requires replacement of key supports, and damaged ceilings and drywall replacement may be less expensive and quicker than laborious cleaning and sealing. Throughout the process of restoration, our project manager and office staff work with your insurer to limit your out of pocket expenses. We provide as much evidence, including our professional opinions, as possible to prove your fire damage claim.

What to do If You Suspect Mold

8/31/2018 (Permalink)

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

What you can do before we arrive after a flood

8/9/2018 (Permalink)

When storm damage hits, there is often little a homeowner can do to prevent floodwaters from entering the home. These carry immense power and can seep in through even the smallest cracks. However, when it comes to preventing damage to your home and reducing costs during the restoration process, there are a few steps you can take before a SERVPRO crew arrives. If possible, carry out these tasks before we arrive, but always be mindful of your safety and health.

Put a Barrier Between Furniture and the Floor

One of the easiest ways to mitigate harm to your furniture during storm damage in Manteca is to place a small barrier between your furniture and the floor. Prop up couches, chairs, desks, tables, and anything else you can on top of wooden blocks, bricks, or some other stable object. This effort will help to keep the furniture from coming into any more direct contact with flood water.

Lay Things Out to Dry

If floodwaters have already receded from an area, you can take fabrics and objects there and place them out to dry. This placement is essential for couches and furniture with cushions/pillows because the moisture will instead become trapped inside, causing severe and often irreversible damage. Do not, however, attempt to dry items with a hair dryer or other machine. Instead, try to find a sunny or warm area to place them.

Leave Electricity Alone

Anything electrical in your home presents a major hazard following a flood, so even if you feel that turning something on is necessary, wait until a SERVPRO representative arrives to consult them. If a room is dark and you wish to enter, there may be water damage to the lights or wiring and these may present a hazard. Similarly, avoid using outlets or anything plugged in.

Difficulty of Mold

8/9/2018 (Permalink)

Mold Growth

Mold damage is incredibly difficult to treat and remove once it has taken root in a home. Resistant to heat, cold, chemicals, light, darkness, and physical abrasion, mold is near impossible to deal with without specially-designed tools and equipment like those used by SERVPRO of Manteca. So, why is mold so difficult to work with? The answer starts in its biology: mold is adapted specifically to be as hardy as possible, not relinquishing its grasp on a surface until the bitter end.

All colonies, even those causing the most extensive mold damage start from tiny, microscopic spores. Whether it is one spore or a handful, it does not often take much for a full-force infestation to spring up. These spores mature quickly, and once they have reached maturity, they produce thousands more of their kind. These children, equally tiny and hardy as their parent organism, then mostly spread around the immediate area, taking root and growing hundreds to thousands of children of their own. In this way, mold reproduces at an extraordinary exponential rate, quickly consuming the entire surface surrounding the origin of growth.

However, if this was the only way mold could spread, the fungus would not be nearly as ubiquitous as it is in modern America. The organisms also respond to physical stimuli: should an animal or object brush against the mold, millions of spores are liable to brush off and get carried to an entirely new location. SERVPRO technicians take great care to ensure this happens as little as possible, with regular self-sanitization processes and changes of clothing. Mold can also spread due to HVAC systems, as air is circulated at a rate fast enough to pick up spores and swirl them about the home, infecting multiple rooms at a time. Keeping mold under control is almost impossible for the unprepared, but luckily, we equip our technicians with a thorough retinue of instruments and equipment for keeping mold contained.

Manteca: Business Flood Situations Are Not Just From Weather

4/11/2018 (Permalink)

The rain was needed, but it surprised many of them. Fortunately, weather-related floods are rare in this part of California. What is not so rare for area businesses is when the water comes in from damaged plumbing.

Commercial water damage surprises Manteca business owners every time it happens. Everyone knows that the sprinkler system is there to stop fire damage, but no one understands the damage that happens when it engages. Fortunately, SERVPRO has the experience, training, and equipment to restore an office or a kitchen back to their original state.

Sprinklers soak everything, that is what they are supposed to do to prevent the spread of fire. Paper products, like documents, cardboard storage boxes, and books quickly turn to a pulpy mush and must be thrown out. If the business owner needs to keep original contracts, we can preserve the legibility by can spreading them out on a dry surface. We use air movers to blow warm, dry air over the paper gently and while we cannot return the items to their original condition or look, we can sometimes preserve the image

The item that usually catches the most damage next is the carpet. SERVPRO technicians use extraction wands to draw out water without damaging the nape of the carpet. If there is a carpet pad, we remove and dispose of it. Pads quickly deteriorate when they become wet, and they are cheaper to replace rather than attempt to restore. Once we remove the water, crew members use the air movers again to force warm, dry air across the surface to dry it out while preventing further damage.

In a commercial kitchen, sprinklers do not usually cause much damage to the equipment. Here, our technicians concentrate on removing water from inside equipment like fryers to safely use them again. They also dry out behind and under everything to prevent mold growth and to make the room safe to walk in again.

To accomplish this, we set up fans at exits to blow the damp air out of the kitchen as we use long-handled squeegees to push water across the floor and out of the building. Once we have the majority of the water out, we set up air movers to finish drying the floors so we can return the kitchen to the owner as soon and safely as possible.

Restoring businesses to a safe, dry condition is not something you can do with a mop and a water-vac.

Manteca: If your Store Suffers a Water Damage

4/11/2018 (Permalink)

Whether a high-end specialty food store or your everyday grocery, the spots where you shop for the ingredients for your daily menus are always at risk for water damage. The many coolers, freezers, water and ice tanks, food prep areas, and even restrooms all have the potential to cause devastating water losses that you may need a professional restoration company to abate.

Your bulk grocery shoppers suffer if commercial water damage in Manteca causes even a brief closure. Perhaps the live fish tank breaks and sends contaminated water across the floor. Prep chefs in your deli may fail to turn off a faucet and a sink overflows and floods. A freezer malfunctions and an entire truckload of ice melts, damaging other food in the freezer and leaking out into the main customer areas. Once the source of the damage is eliminated, we move on to water removal and damage control.

We arrive with truck-mounted pumps and extractors to make short work of removing standing water. SERVPRO project managers create a personalized plan to restore damage linked to the water event. If flooring is dislodged or waterlogged, we restore the integrity of the surface with a thorough cleaning and the positioning of air movers and dehumidifiers. Tile or vinyl floor usually restore reasonably easily, but if there are areas with hardwood or laminate flooring, or carpeting, our technicians use techniques learned during IICRC training to restore the spaces.

Carpeting is dried in place with SERVPRO crew members employing our powerful wet vacuums and weighted wands that express as much moisture as possible, finishing with air movers, heaters, and dehumidifiers. Hardwood and laminate flooring is treated with drying mats, pulling moisture from both the top and subfloor layers. If water is trapped beneath we may remove and prop up planks, or drill holes or remove sealants to improve evaporation and movement of water vapor out of the floors.

If a freezer or tank is involved, we evaluate it, sometimes with the assistance of other contractors, for its suitability to be placed back online. We examine for mold growth and clean up and dispose of spoiled products. At all times SERVPRO is careful to avoid the risk of electrical shock and other hazards while attending to the water damage.

4/11/2018 (Permalink)

House work can be the worst part of the weekend. its time consuming, tiring and sometimes straight up gross! However, we love the freshness and satisfaction that comes from having a sparkling clean house. there's nothing better right?

Here goes:

  1. Clean a burnt pan with vinegar, water & baking soda

Fill the pan with water and one cup of white vinegar. Bring it to a boil, turn off heat & add 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Allow time to cool, then wipe the mixture out of the pan!

  1. Microwave is easily cleaned with vinegar

Mix part water, part vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. you may want to include a wooden toothpick or another small piece of wood, to prevent boiling over. Microwave on high for 5 minutes. Once cooled, take out the bowl and with a sponge or cloth, wipe down the inside of the microwave. No scrubbing, no chemicals, no hassle.

You can also add lemon to the mixture for a fresh, clean scent!

  1. Clean your sponge

Sponges can pick up a lot of bacteria, so you want to make sure you clean it frequently.

It's super easy: pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to remove the germs! Just wait a minute or two before pulling out since it'll still be hot.

You can also put your sponge in the dishwasher to get it nice and clean again.

  1. Clean shower scum with vinegar and dish soap.

Cleaning the bathroom is the worst! The good news is there's an easy way to remove soap scum and grime building up in the shower.

Fill a bowl with half vinegar and half dish soap. Now start scrubbing! You can also use an old sponge or toothbrush and just dip into a cup of the same solution. No harsh chemicals required.

  1. Clean your couch with baking soda

Baking soda can help remove odors and break up stains on the fabric. Begin by brushing off the surface of the couch, then sprinkle baking soda on the area you want to clean. Allow it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum with attachment tool

  1. Use toothpaste to clean sneakers

Grab an old toothbrush and a little toothpaste to get your sneakers looking like new again!

  1. Make your rings sparkle with dish soap

The easiest, and safest, way to clean an engagement ring or other type of ring is to soak it in warm water and a small amount of dishwashing soap for 20 minutes. Then use a soft toothbrush to remove left over dirt, or makeup.

  1. Baking soda for brighter, cleaner laundry

Add a cup of baking soda in with your load and your clothes will be brighter and cleaner!

  1. Clean cloudy glasses with vinegar

Use a paper towel and a small amount of vinegar to get your glasses crystal clear!

  1. Multiple uses for dryer sheets

Even after they've been used, dryer sheets can work magic around your house. Use them to buff away water marks on bathroom and kitchen fixtures or remove that ring inside the toilet. You can even protect your baseboards from hair and dust by wiping them down with this handy dandy static eliminating sheets.

  1. Cola to clean oil stains off your garage floors

Pour Coca Cola onto the stained area. Work the Coke into the stain with a nylon scrub brush. Avoid using a wire brush on concrete, this will leave noticeable scratches. Allow the soda to sit on the stain an hour or two. Then hose down with some pressure and the stain is gone

Manteca: What to do if Your House is Flooded

4/10/2018 (Permalink)

Protection

It’s likely that the water affecting your home has been contaminated or is sewer water. Also, depending on how soon you get started, mold can be beginning to grow! Protective wear such as masks, gloves, & work boots should be worn.

Remove Damaged Belongings From Your Home

Gather all damaged items and move them out to the curb. This task can be pretty nasty and time consuming, however if you feel you can get some of this done yourself, you will save some money.

Water Removal

In the event that the amount of water is minimal, you can grab a shop vacuum from your local store and extract as much water as you can yourself. If the amount of water in a home is too much to remove on your own SERVPRO is here to help.

Demo

Depending on the year of your property was built, you may need to test for asbestos and lead before you begin demo. If your house is asbestos and lead free then you can personally remove affected flooring and drywall. Carpet and padding can be lifted and taken out of your home. Affected baseboard and/or drywall can be cut out and trashed. Typically, with water loss, tile floors should be removed since its likely that water has gotten under tiles.

Clean & Disinfect

Pine Sol or Lysol mixed with equal part water will work fine. You may want to go over everything twice to be sure all remaining germs are gone from your home. It’s also common to use bleach for disinfecting, many professionals use green products that are very effective and safe to use as well. You should read the labels and wear gloves even if you are using green products.

Get the Air Moving

It only takes 48–72 hours for bacterial and mold growth to begin to spread. If a large amount of microbial growth develops, it can increase remediation costs by thousands of dollars. It’s very important that the drying process start ASAP. Although box fans and dehumidifier are no competition for professional equipment, they can definitely help. Place several fans and a dehumidifier throughout the affected area. You may still need professional such as SERVPRO of Manteca to completely dry out the affected areas but the less time you need professional equipment, the more money you keep in your pocket.

Spring Clean

Basements, closets and attics often become a place for those things that don’t get used regularly. Take time at least once a year to go through these areas and get the old clothing and random clutter to the recycling bin. Should the time come, you’ll be glad that mess is not an issue.

Put Items Up High

Boxes and items on the floor can create one big problem when dealing water damage. It’s a great idea to invest metal or plastic shelving units. Wood is easily cleaned but may not be salvageable.

Storing In Bins

Using plastic or rubber bins as a means of storage is a smart idea. They provide an inexpensive and organized option for belongings you want to save. Be sure to secure lids properly.

The best advice I can give you is to use a reputable restoration company such as SERVPRO. Especially if you simply don’t have time to get the work done yourself.  Call us at (209)823-8877

Manteca: 6 Steps for a Water Damage

4/10/2018 (Permalink)

Water damage can easily be considered one of the worst disasters that may occur at your property. It’s crucial that immediate action takes place when damage is discovered. All too often, we are caught off guard and unprepared which delays response time and can lead to further damages. SERVPRO of Manteca has these tips to offer:

First… are you covered? Before the damage even occurs, be protected with home owners insurance. Insurance will help soften financial blows. If its determined that you waited too long to report damages and extended damages occur, you may be left to pay for the repairs yourself. Make sure you seek assistance at the first sign of trouble.

Whether your insurance provider covers your claim or not, you should take immediate action to protect your property.

Step 1 – Locate The Source And Shut Off The Water Supply

The next move to make when you discover water damage, is to find out where the water is coming from and shut it off. Better yet, turn off the water supply to your home. Leaking pipes or a pipe that burst are the most common cause of water damage. If you have a large water loss on your hands, you should also shut off electricity and gas if possible.

Step 2 – Start A Claim With Your Insurance Provider.

You should notify your insurance company immediately of the water damages. Even if the damage is not covered, they will be able to assist you in contacting professionals to begin restoration.

Step 3 – Rescue Your Most Valuable Belongings

Gather your important things from the affected areas and put them in a safe place. Family heirlooms, jewelry, money, photos etc.. You should also allow electronics and outlets sufficient time to dry before plugging them in.

Step 4 – Eliminate As Much Water As Possible

Get rid of access water. Remove rugs and hang them to dry, use a broom or mop to assist you with standing water. A wet vacuum is also a handy tool for carpeted areas.

Step 5 – Ventilating the Affected Area

Proper ventilation is needed in order to prevent mold & mildew. Open all windows if humidity is lower outside than indoors. You may use fans to assist if you still have power and only if you are certain that mold is NOT present. Fans can spread mold, further contaminating the home.

Step 6 – Is Mold Present?

Mold is dangerous to clean on your own because disturbing the mold will cause it to release spores. According to the IICRC S520, mold remediation and removal should be done by experienced and trained technicians equipped by full protective suites, gloves, masks and using special machines such as air scrubbers and dehumidifiers.

Manteca:How to protect your home from flood damage

4/10/2018 (Permalink)

It is essential to address the situation as soon as possible after your home has sustained water damage following a natural disaster such as a flood or storm. Without the proper water damage restoration services to restore your home and bring it back to its pre-damaged condition, mold can begin to grow and create unpleasant odors, plus it can be detrimental to your health. Every water damage and removal project is unique, but the universal idea is to do a complete and thorough drying before any necessary rebuilding can be done.

You need to be aware as a homeowner how to protect your Manteca home from flood damage. Depending upon the risks of floods in your area, there are many options you can consider, some which are easy to implement and not costly, while others could require professional flood damage restoration services from an experienced and specially trained company such as SERVPRO. Our technicians have professional grade equipment which can rid your home of all the standing water, plus dry your home back out.

Installing drainage systems, sealing low windows, building flood walls and levees or elevating buildings are all things you might consider, depending on your budget. Remember that the height of the electric panel inside your home is regulated by a code and must be a minimum of a foot above the flood elevation. If it is not, call a licensed flood damage contractor so that all your outlets and wiring can be elevated to the correct height.

A floating floor drain plug can help a flood damaged home when the drain pipe backs up. In the case of flood waters going into your sewage system and cause a sewage backup in your home, you need to install a backflow valve.

You should also have an extra insurance policy for flood damage, as homeowners’ policies do not cover the cleanup or repair of flood damage. When an emergency arises, SERVPRO can assist you in talking to your insurance company so you can worry about more pressing things, like your family.

Manteca: Dangerous Things to Look for in Flood Damage

4/10/2018 (Permalink)

Flood damage is both dangerous and unpredictable, and together, these qualities can create high-risk scenarios in your home even after the disaster has run its course. Homes are susceptible to gas leaks, fires, structural collapse, and other additional disasters even when damage is relatively light, as floodwaters may combine with other prior issues to create much more dangerous situations. One must be alert at all times when entering or inspecting a flood damaged area, so be sure to watch for these early warning signs of serious danger.

Doors that Catch on the Ceiling

One of the most dangerous and difficult to detect dangers in Highland Park flood damage cases is structural instability. It can be difficult to spot where a ceiling or wall is ready to buckle, and too often, it is only after the area has collapsed that anyone realizes the problem. One of the most critical signs of imminent structural collapse may be when doors get stuck on the tops of their frames. As weight causes the frame to sag slightly, the door will not be able to swing as usual. If a door scrapes the top of its frame, don't try to force itself open and be sure to alert a SERVPRO technician.

Unusual Odors

If you have encountered an area with an especially strong smell emanating from within, be sure to tell a SERVPRO technician right away and describe the odor. Smells are the easiest way to identify a potentially deadly gas leak, or perhaps a long-festering spot of mold growth. These odors will usually be foul, but most importantly, they stand out from others. A flooded home does not often smell good in the first place, so what you are mostly looking for is a sudden change in smell.

Cut Cords, Pipes, or Gas Lines

Any sort of line or pipe may be susceptible to oxidation or physical harm during a flood, and these can create serious hazards in your home. If you spot slashed cables, pipes, or anything that might contain a hazardous substance, exercise extreme caution and alert any nearby technicians.

Manteca's Expert in Soot and Smoke Clean Up

4/14/2017 (Permalink)

Our machinery (Hydroxyl Generator) is excellent for removing smoke odor even while residents are still in the home.

Smoke and soot is very invasive and can penetrate various cavities within your home, causing hidden damage and odor. Our smoke damage expertise and experience allows us to inspect and accurately assess the extent of the damage to develop a comprehensive plan of action.

Smoke and soot facts:

  • Hot smoke migrates to cooler areas and upper levels of a structure.
  • Smoke flows around plumbing systems, seeping through the holes used by pipes to go from floor to floor.
  • The type of smoke may greatly affect the restoration process.

Different Types of Smoke

There are two different types of smoke–wet and dry. As a result, there are different types of soot residue after a fire. Before restoration begins, SERVPRO of Manteca will test the soot to determine which type of smoke damage occurred. The cleaning procedures will then be based on the information identified during pretesting. Here is some additional information:

Wet Smoke – Plastic and Rubber

  • Low heat, smoldering, pungent odor, sticky, smeary. Smoke webs are more difficult to clean.

Dry Smoke – Paper and Wood

  • Fast burning, high temperatures, heat rises therefore smoke rises.

Protein Fire Residue – Produced by evaporation of material rather than from a fire

  • Virtually invisible, discolors paints and varnishes, extreme pungent odor.

Our Fire Damage Restoration Services

Since each smoke and fire damage situation is a little different, each one requires a unique solution tailored for the specific conditions.  We have the equipment, expertise, and experience to restore your fire and smoke damage.  We will also treat your family with empathy and respect and your property with care.

Do You Suspect You Have A Mold Problem?

4/14/2017 (Permalink)

Mold isn't just aesthetically displeasing but also can cause serious health issues.

If You See Signs of Mold, Call Us Today – 209-823-8877
